Air Ambient: Verification Sheet Walkthrough
The Verification Sheet is a tool to;
- Record Information about the Air Product in a centralized & uniform manner
- Act as a double-check for the Installation
- Ensure all functions are working as expected under guided tests
- Record any subtle peculiarities about the installation
Each Verification Sheet is separated by Pages, with each page having a series of related sections where information will be recorded or verified. Below, each Page will be listed explaining the type of data collected within it as well as in-depth explanations of some of the more complicated entries.
Basic Air Ambient Info
This Page contains all of the information relevant to the individual Air Ambient: Where it is installed, what Eniscope is it associated with, Device Address, etc.
Air Ambient Name
In order to help remove confusion, we suggest to use the following naming convention:
Location, TH1 = Name1, TH2 = Name2, TH3 = Name3, T1 =Name4, T2 = Name5
Location will need to be replaced with a brief description of where the Air Ambient is installed. For example, if it is at the front of a restaurant, then "Eating Area" or "FOH" will work.
Name will need to be replaced with the equipment being controlled by the Air Ambient. For example: If on Thermistor Input 1 (TH1) a cassette unit in the customer eating area is installed, then this will be replaced with "Dining Area AC".
If there are additional temperature probes connected to the Air Ambient, TX=NameX will need to be included, otherwise this bit can be omitted. Name 4 & 5 will need to be replaced with what is being monitored by the temperature probes.
Thermistor Input Assignment
On this page, each of the utilized Thermistor Inputs will be denoted along with what is connected to them. Under the section System Details, a more in-depth breakdown will be made for each Thermistor Input.
System Details
Critical sections within this Sub-Section are outlined below. It is important to ensure as much information as possible is captured, as this will be used for the registration of the Ambient as well as ensuring the Ambient performs as intended.
Equipment Info
The Make & Model numbers are needed in order to lookup circuit schematics if additional connection points are needed. This is also needed in order to lookup the correct specifications of the HVAC unit.
System Type refers to if the unit is a Roof Top Unit (RTU), cassette, Mini-Split, etc. If you are unsure of this, please have your HVAC technician provide this data.
Stage Cooling/Heating references the number of stages the unit has. Typically most systems are Single Stage, however if you are unsure, please have your HVAC technician provide this data.
Thermistor/Run Data
This is the most important section. All three fields need to be recorded in order to ensure that the Air Ambient is setup correctly. None of these fields can be reviewed remotely, and improper settings can impact the function of the Air Ambient.
Resistance Set for Heating/Cooling are specific values that you will set the potentiometers. What values are needed will be based on what kind of Thermistor is currently installed on the HVAC equipment. There is a detailed table of expected values within the Air Ambient Manual, and the Air Ambient Installation videos provide further detail on how to find & record this data.
The time it takes to switch between Heating and Cooling can be measured by setting the unit to Cooling, then after 15 minutes, change it to Heating. Set a timer to measure the amount of time in seconds it takes for the cold air to stop blowing and the warm air to begin. This time will be used in the Toggle time in order to have the unit turn off via Ambient control.
Installation Check
This page goes over and ensures that the Air Ambient has been physically installed correctly & neatly. There are photos required for this section. Please ensure that the area around the photo subject is also captured to better provide context for its location & setup.
Software Check
While providing information in regards to the Software setup of the Air Ambient, this page also collects information relevant to the Ambient's Scheduling.
Connected Systems
This section is where the Ambient is receiving temperature data from and what temperatures it needs to keep the space in.
Temperature Thresholds denote the range of temperatures the Air Ambient needs to keep in the space, heating when it goes below the first value, and cooling when it goes above. For example:
If the values are given as "18,24": Then this denotes that the Ambient needs to engage the Heating once the temperature falls below 18 degrees and engages Cooling once it goes above 24 degrees.
Linked Temperature Sensor Label is the name of the device or location temperature data is coming from. If from an Air Sense, this would be: "Location - Air Sense". If from an installed temperature probe on the Air Ambient, then it would be: "T2=Name5".
Linked Temperature Sensor ID is only used if the temperature data is coming from a separate Air Device. This helps ensure that the correct data is being used for the scheduling.
System Tests
While they look complicated, these tests have been made quite easy. Located on the Air Ambient board are two buttons: One for Heat and another for Cool. Pressing either will signal the corresponding side of the Thermistor Inputs. If the equipment is connected correctly, then you should see the HVAC begin to emit cold or warm air. Failure of this could indicate that there is an issue either in the wiring or the potentiometer settings.
Conclusions
This page covers the final sign-off of the Verification. It includes ensuring that all relevant parties understand how the Air Ambient affects the heating & cooling of an area along with who best to contact if there are any issues. As this can greatly affect day-to-day operations and is not easily by-passed, ensuring that all relevant party members know how to correct this can prevent clients from needing to shut down until the issue is corrected.
The Installer and the one performing the Verification will also have their names recorded here, being signed off by the Verifier.
